Meeting Minutes for the

University of Maine at Augusta

Computer Club

On April 30th, 1999, the first meeting of the UMACC was held in the Campus Center conference room. The meeting started at 12:00 hours. In attendance were more than 20 individuals interested in organizing a UMA Computer Club. This included three current Professors from the Computer Information Systems department.

Proceedings

An interim board/committee consisting of Ron Le Blanc, Joy Harvey, and Jeff Jordan were voted into office. This interim board will serve as the contact point for the Computer Club (CC) until the second meeting of the CC in during the Fall semester of 1999. This is to allow the membership time to get to know each other and put forward candidates for office.

An initial name for the club was discussed. Computer Information Systems Club (CISC) and University of Maine at Augusta Computer Club (UMACC) were considered. UMACC won the vote.

A CC purpose was defined and voted on.
To benefit the professional development of the UMA CIS students.

A discussion of membership requirements and levels ensued. It was decided to have an open membership policy for the time being and to revisit this subject in the Fall.

Membership dues were discussed and tabled until Fall.

A discussion of what would constitute a quorum for decisions at club meetings ensued. It was decided that based on the current participation level that 9 members would have to be present at a meeting to constitute a quorum. It was further agreed that decisions would require a two-thirds majority of a quorum.

The next meeting of the general membership was set for May 14th, 1999, at 12 noon. The meeting will again be held in the Campus Center conference room. (Bring your own lunch this time!)

The initial meeting of the UMACC was recessed until the next meeting.
